On beauty (1 of 3)…

Our lives are a recurring cycle of problems and solutions. Each problem we face, calls for a solution, some easy, some not. And one of our key purposes in life is to power through these problems and reach these solutions.

Sometimes, our solutions are beautiful. The outcome of the decisions and the work we put in addressing our problem just gels, effortlessly, easily, seamlessly. And as we put this work in, we almost suspect this will be the outcome. We are in the flow, we are focused, we are concentrating, we are deep into our work, not only with our hands, hearts and minds but also with our soul.

This is when we do our best work. When we devote ourselves to it, when we respect it, when we cherish it. And our best work yields beautiful solutions. As R Buckminster Fuller said,

When I am working on a problem, I never think about beauty but when I have finished, if the solution is not beautiful, I know it is wrong.

Yes, you too know it is.
